Adding another country to my list of places I have traveled to: Spain. On Friday we packed the charter bus and made our way to Barcelona to spend two nights in the city. It was a well spent weekend and our time went by fast. In a day's time we were able to cover a good portion of Barcelona, walking through the Parc Guell, a park with Gaudi's work, Sagrada Familia, and of course the beach.
We walked through Parc Guell first thing Saturday morning. It was interesting going through that first and comparing it to the architecture in France. The mosaic art was so cool and so much different than anything I have ever seen. Very beautiful and unique. Following the park, we made our way to lower downtown to walk around the Sagrada Familia (the famous cathedral that has been under construction for over 200 years). We did not go into the cathedral because the line was so long. We walked around though and were able to see the Gothic style architecture. Majority of the one side of the cathedral was completely under construction. The other side did not disappointment, gorgeous, so unique. (I feel like when I describe most of these places I'm visiting I use boring adjectives, but really there are no words to explain the beautiful places and buildings I have visited.) We walked to the beach and met up with a group from our program... Little did we know though that the beach we were walking to was a nudist beach... Sorry, but I will not be posting any pictures of the beach because I did not dare to take a picture and see what may have been in the background. Haha! That evening we made our way out to a club, it was a good night, to say the least! :)
I think the most important thing that I learned this past weekend is how big this world is, and how little of a person each of us are. That's such a large concept to get a grasp on, but such an interesting one. I keep thinking how cool it is that I have had the opportunity to see this much of the world thus far, but then I put it in perspective and realize how much more there is to see. And that's when I figured out my dream, is to continue experiencing the world and exploring. There is so much to learn by traveling, and I just want to learn everything! Even though it is not possible, I want to go as far as I can. A more realistic dream or goal I have made for myself is to continue studying French when I return to the States and do what I can to become bilingual in English and French. Its far fetched and a big dream, but I thought the same thing about traveling to France to study abroad! If you set your mind to it, anything is possible!
