What I miss about the United States:
(This list is filled with a bunch of random things that I take for granted in the States that are not a thing here in Europe or are hard to come across)
What I’ll miss about Europe:
(Two months was not enough time, I will be back)
There is obviously more to add to each of these lists, but for now I’m keeping it short and sweet. I’m interested to see what I miss about and from Europe a month down the road and to realize what I missed about the United States once I’m home and settled.
(This list is filled with a bunch of random things that I take for granted in the States that are not a thing here in Europe or are hard to come across)
- Diet Coke
- Dr. Pepper
- Root Beer
- Ice Cubes
- Air Conditioning
- Ceiling Fans
- My closet and not having to live out of a suitcase
- Dorris the Dodge (my car)
- Big trucks
- Pancakes
- My hair straightener and curling iron (well I need new ones since I blew mine up with the conversion difference)
- Not having to use a converter to use anything that requires electricity
- Coke and Pepsi with the sugars used in the States, not the sugars used in Europe (yes it’s different)
- Being able to eavesdrop on people’s conversations ( because I understand the language)
- Talk to anyone, about anything, at a normal talking speed
- Bonfires
- Cell Phone!
What I’ll miss about Europe:
(Two months was not enough time, I will be back)
- My amazing host family
- Getting stipend to eat and buy wine
- Wine tasting at 9am in class
- Chez Ton Ton (our favorite bar)
- PurParty’s (parties at the Purpan)
- 3 course meals twice a day every day
- Foie Gras & the other fatty duck meats (sooo good, why must it be prohibited in the States?!)
- Desert twice a day everyday
- Hiking in the Pyrenees (when I come back to Europe, I am going white water rafting in the mountains)
- Beaches like Marseille, even if the water was ice cold
- Cliff diving
- Not getting to visit London or anywhere in Italy (Italy is next on my list to go to)
- The Tram & clean metro in Toulouse
- Toulouse all together
- Being the center of attention during our nights out (the French love us, or really hate us, either way)
- The French guys having no shame on complimenting us girls, don’t think I have been called beautiful so many times in my life.. I think they like the blonde-ish hair and blue eyes J
- Getting introduced as “an American”, so much pride in that. Whenever I hear my host mom or dad say “Elle es Americaine” I can’t help but smile!
- Experiencing another culture. No need to explain that.
- Taking embarrassing pictures of one another when we were sleeping on the bus
- Home grown vegetables and fruits from the family’s garden
There is obviously more to add to each of these lists, but for now I’m keeping it short and sweet. I’m interested to see what I miss about and from Europe a month down the road and to realize what I missed about the United States once I’m home and settled.
