After reading the lyrics I realize that this song has a much different meaning than actually, physically being on top of the world. But it is an awesome song. Nicole, Kelly and I played this song while hiking to the Calanques in Marseille when we were stopped taking in the view. This entire journey these two months have made me feel like I am on top of the world, even though I have learned that this world is crazy big and I will never actually be on top of the world. Also, my host sisters love singing this song, they don’t know what they’re saying but it’s still fun to listen to them sing in English. Forever when I hear this song, it will bring me right back to my time in France.
I think I just want this song on my playlist because the title is “Summer” and the beat is super fun and catchy. I’m sure we sang this song at the top of our lungs plenty of times during our nights out.
LOL at a typical Laurissa move: We’re on the bus just getting into Barcelona and I’m listening to music with Kelly off of her phone, this song comes on. It’s newer so I don’t know all the words, but I know the jist of it.. Singing out loud like retards and I blurt the wrong words so everyone around us hears me… Awkward and embarrassing to say the least. Typical Laurissa move, like I said.
So I met a guy, French guy that is, one night at Chez Ton Ton. A few nights later we ran into each other at a party at Purpan and he asked for me to dance. All I was thinking is “what, how do you dance to this song??” Well it’s completely possible. I’m not sure if he took dance lessons or what but he knew how to swing dance, good at that! I was terrible at following his lead, I can’t dance ever, let alone a swing dance. It was soooo much fun, I don’t think I have ever smiled in my life like that. Definitely a night I won’t forget thanks to that dance, and will always think of that cute French guy when I play this song!
I don’t understand this song whatsoever because it is French, but it is so catchy. My host sisters love to sing it and so does one of the aunts in the family. When we were hiking in the Pyrenees, she’d just randomly start singing this song and dancing. So comical. Definitely look forward to blaring this song in my car with the windows down, I’m bring it to America!
Another French song but the lyrics are English. It’s a type of French electric/techno music. I love the beat to this song. I heard it hanging out with some French people, the song will always take me back to that night.
There’s no rhyme or reason for this song. Really all that it is, is a fun party song. I put this song on my slideshow with all the photos with my Paris Party People (inside joke between Nick, Nicole, Kelly, and I). And no worries, we did not party in Paris! We were too tired for that!
During our drive to Marseille, our BlaBla Car driver asked us if we ever heard of this band, which we hadn’t before them. They are really good! The singer is English, and the other members of the band are from different parts of Europe. Well came to find out our driver was obsessed with Puggy, she had seen them in concert 22 times and the reason she was headed to Marseille was so stay there for the night and head to Nice the next day to see Puggy live for le fete de la musique for her 23rd time. I’m not obsessed with them by any means after hearing them. But I did buy these two songs on iTunes!

I might be in France for the summer, but I will forever be an American Kid. What an awesome song, and such good marketing skills by Kenny’s crew to release this song around 4th of July. I can’t tell you how many times I listened to this song on 4th of July, pretending to be in the U S of A for the day!
It’s simple to explain… For the month we lived in Toulouse, we lived like we’re young. “Let’s go crazy, crazy, crazy ‘til we see the sun”. We said that one night we’d stay up to see the sun and we never did.. came close a few times!
Each day was the best day of my life here. I can’t pick out just one. More like “this has got to be the best summer of my life”.
I said last summer that this song perfectly described my summer, and oh was I wrong. I will never, ever, ever be able to beat this summer again. I may not have a boyfriend like the song talks about, but I guess we could just relate the “you” in the song as France instead of a person! “knowing its going to end” – thinking about these last days brings a tear to my eye. I kid you not.
The last 2 for 1 Monday night at Chez Ton Ton, standing on the benches with my Purpan people singing this song at the top of our lungs. Shan Dog, K Beezy, Narkey. ‘nuff said!
